If you can get past that part, they were actually well prepared and tasted really good with the soy sauce based sauce that came with them. The tempura vegetables were tasty, but they resembled that mix of frozen vegetables you might store in the freezer. My roll was delicious and paired well with the spicy mayo that the waitress suggested. I had one of their specialty rolls as well as the fried (tempura) vegetables. When you walk in you are immediately greeted and during lunch time at least there is open seating. ![]() What I can say of this place is that the food and service was top notch. It isn't glamorous or upscale like the rest of Scottsdale, but hey, they serve wings, what else do you expect. It has an old sports bar kind of feel from start to finish. It's not located on or near the main strip which may be appealing to you depending on what you want. Not many sushi restaurants are open during lunch hours as most places do not open until the after work/dinner rush, so I was glad when I found this place in a not so busy part of Scottsdale. Great food, great service, solid sports bar feel. ![]() All other aspects of our experience were fantastic. The music was great, but we gave 4 stars because generally loud restaurants aren’t our favorite and the music was pumping pretty loudly. The entree was pretty delicious but we were really just too full to finish it. Our favorites were the sumo egg roll, the guacamole w cranberries, the sumo Rangoon, and the sushi. The appetizers are all unique and amazing. When it came to the entrees, we only ordered one entree since we were so full. ![]() We tried just about every appetizer they served from the menu that day. After a few bottomless drinks, they had brought so many servings of appetizers, we couldn’t finish them all. He quickly ordered us some of the appetizers and then we picked out some of the other selections we thought would be good. We weren’t exactly sure what was going on at first, but we sat at the bar, and Chris took care of us. Basically, they would serve unlimited plates of appetizers, one entree per person, and bottomless drinks were extra. They were serving brunch, which consisted of paying for the brunch menu. We walked to the restaurant closest to the hotel, which is Sumomaya. We just landed in Arizona and were able to check in to our hotel in the morning. We sat near the aquarium and enjoyed that entertainment. We arrived at 5:30 and I think by 6 the place was full. We had all of this for under $80 hard to believe. I also liked that I could get a small draft beer as usually a regular draft is a bit too big for me. We had a Caterpillar, baked scallops, one of the sushi platters (love this idea) with spicy yellowtail and I can't remember what else.Įveryone commented how good it all was and there were four of us. We picked out all sorts of sushi and every item seemed perfect. It would be nice if you would label the sliding pictures. The website flashed by some pictures and I saw a couple that intrigued me but there wasn't any labels so I didn't know what the items were. Well they really just have beer and wine but that would do. I called ahead to see if they had a bar because after all, it is my birthday. ![]() I couldn't make up my mind where to go for my birthday dinner so I put sushi in google maps and ratings above 4 and Yume popped up.
